Questions & Answers

  • Who owns Freedom Village and is it financially secure?

Freedom Village is owned by Casa Pacifica, a CA General Partnership. Within the first year, the partners paid off the mortgage.

  • Why is the monthly fee so much lower than rental communities?

By paying the one-time entrance fee, you receive the benefit of lower payments in Independent Living, Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing.

  • Do I keep my own doctors?

Yes! We do, however, have a licensed nurse on duty 7 days a week and a full nursing staff at the HealthCare Center.

  • Can I bring my own car?

Absolutely. There is a $10/month fee to reserve a covered carport. We do our best to provide you with a space closest to your apartment.

  • Can my guests spend the night and also join me in the dining room?

Yes! We love to have guests at Freedom Village. Our guest rooms and meal passes are available at nominal fees. For large parties, you can reserve our private dining room, for no charge.

  • What if I only need a little assistance and not enough to move to Assisted Living?

Pre-screened caregivers are available to assist you with personal laundry, shopping and some personal care needs for a reasonable hourly fee.

  • What comes with my apartment?

Apartments are unfurnished and have a refrigerator, microwave and a 2-burner hot plate or a stove, and your own A/C and heat.

  • What happens if something needs repair in my apartment?

Our maintenance staff is available 7 days a week to assist you.

  • With so many activities, how can I best plan my day?

Our in-house television station will remind you of upcoming events, as will our weekly newsletter and monthly calendar.

  • I hear you have a wonderful Moving Assistance Program?

Yes. Our trained staff will arrange all of your moving details including realtor referrals, telephone transfers, packing, moving, unpacking, change of address, etc.

  • I love to keep busy. Can I sign up for some volunteer work?

Yes. Many residents volunteer their time to work in our Library, Activities, Bookkeeping, Marketing, and Resident Council.

  • Do I still pay property taxes?

No. You do not actually own your apartment and will not have to pay property taxes. However, a percentage of your monthly fee may be deducted on your income tax as a pre-paid medical expense.

  • How do your rebate programs work?

Rebate programs are available on your entrance fees. The price will vary, depending on which rebate program you choose. Up to 75% of your entrance fee can be returned to your estate.

  • Are you affiliated with any religious organization?

No. We are open to the public and not affiliated with any religion.

  • Do you have assigned seating in your dining room?

No. We offer an open seating policy and encourage residents to mingle and meet other people.

  • Do you have extra storage available?

Yes! Each resident is given a storage unit that is ideal for holiday ornaments and luggage.

  • Are there meals on the menu for people with special diets?

Yes! All of our nutritious meals are prepared with seniors in mind. However, low-salt items, non seasoned food and vegetarian dishes are available daily.

  • Do we always have to eat in the dining room?

No. You can certainly order your meal "To Go" or have it "Delivered."

  • What happens if I am still active and my spouse needs assistance?

You can choose either to have assistance from our Support Services or your spouse can reside in Assisted Living. In this case, you would then pay the one-person monthly fee and your spouse would pay the Assisted Living fee.

  • If something happens to me with the first year, what happens to my entrance deposit?

If something happens to you within the first 90 days, your entrance deposit is 100% refundable. Within the first 25 months, the fee depreciates each month and a portion would be refundable.

  • Are there any special requirements to live at Freedom Village?

Yes. You need to meet both financial and health requirements to qualify.

  • What cleaning will the housekeepers do?

You will have the same housekeeper the same day, each week. She will vacuum, clean your bathroom and kitchen, change the linens on your bed and supply you with clean towels.

  • Do you offer cable?

Yes. The maintenance department will stop by the day you move in to connect the cable to your TV's. We offer over 30 stations at no charge to you.

  • Where will I get my mail?

There are mail boxes on either side of the front desk. Your mailbox number will correspond with your apartment number and you will receive a key.

  • My friends live there and just love it. How will I ever learn everything?

You will receive a Freedom Village Handbook that is an easy reference format. Everything you will need to know will be in the booklet. Our residents all remember what it was like being "new" and they will reach out and welcome you into the Freedom Village Family. Our friendly, caring staff will also look forward to assisting you in every way we can.
